Today has been a great day so far. I had to actually wake up before noon (again, dammit) and go to the orthodontist. And FINALLY, after going to the orthodontist regularly for the past ::counts on fingers:: 9 years, and having jaw surgery last spring, I am completely done with the orthodontist FOREVER. No more. Now its just waiting for my next appointment with the damn oral surgeon, and telling him where to stick it if he wants to see me after that. I now have gorgeous teeth!!
I then went to Best Buy with the sole intention of buying Lola Rennt, the bestest movie in the whole wide world. Its a German art film, for those too uncultured to have heard of it. But, of course the fuckers there have no taste in movies whatsoever, and don't carry any foreign film other than the prerequisite martial arts shit. Why do they have 15 copies of Pi, when no one is ever gonna watch that unless they're stoned off their asses, yet they don't have a SINGLE copy of one of the best art films ever made. (granted its in German, and except for DVD doesn't always have subtitles...unless you're lucky enough to find the English version of it, which I've only seen once or twice).
Today, for some reason, I've also had a huge craving for classical music, so I've busted out the CDs from back in my high school days (all six months ago) and have been listening to those. Third Symphony mvts. III and IV by James Barnes are the greatest works ever!...OK, not really, but they were the most fun to play. For some reason, I've had parts Le Rois d'Ys by Edouard Lalo in my head all day, and couldn't find my damn CD from when we performed at Bands of America. So I found a version online...thank god for Audio Galaxy. It was, however, the shittiest recording that I've ever heard. It was a recording from a record to an mp3, and from the sounds of it, they were playing the record in an echo chamber, and recording both the record, and the echo. Its pure shit. I also listened to Alfred Reed's Armenian Dances, which we played along with Le Rois d'Ys in 10th grade. It wasn't a great recording, either...but it was an improvement. Who knows, maybe its just my brother's speakers that are shit.
I am SOO excited about tomorrow, because I cant wait to get outta damn C'ville again, and back down to Blacksburg. Plus, I getta spend all weekend with my wonderful boyfriend :oD Away from parents, with my boi, back at school, what could be better?...oh yeah, if they took the classes part away. Damn It!
I now return you to your otherwise meaningless existence.
